Places you might like to visit

Normandy has many attractions and features. It's just a quick hop over the channel from the UK. The countryside is lush and green with its renowned bocage hedgerows.

Normandy, like the rest of France, is proud of its local produce and Normandy is famous for its cheeses, dairy produce, apple and pear ciders and of course Calvados. What could make a better holiday or short break than sitting in pretty, rural surroundings eating and drinking well?

La Longere is ideally situated in a rural location, surrounded by trees and farmland, to unwind and relax. It is within easy reach by car of the coast and the Normandy Beaches. There is a museum and memorial in Caen to the valiant of the Second World War when the allies launched their invasion of  German occupied France. The Northern French coast also has delightful towns such as Honfleur, Etretat, St Malo and Mont St Michel to visit and Bayeux, famous for its Norman tapestry.

Lonlay L'Abbaye

A picturesque village on our doorstep
The Abbey at Lonlay L'Abbaye

The surrounding area is very scenic with rolling hills and valleys.  We are only 9 kms (5 miles) from the medieval city of Domfront with its timbered and stone houses and cobbled streets.   The area is renowned for hiking, walking, cycling and rock climbing.  We are about an hour and a half away from the coast by road and the towns of Bayeux with its Tapestry and the Normandy beaches are all within about 1 1/2 - 2 hours drive.  Mont St Michel and St Malo are also a couple of hours away.

Lower Normandy is still a bit of a hidden treasure and if you enjoy the countryside, the French lifestyle and historic buildings and architecture, this is an ideal holiday destination for you.

VEHICLE PARKING

A vehicle of some description is advisable.  The Longere is situated about 2 kms from Lonlay L'Abbaye by road and about 9 kms from Domfront.  We have off-road parking for cars and we can offer covered, secure parking for motorcycles and bicycles.
